Horse Cove campground

The campground is situated in mature hardwood and Spruce trees with some sites adjacent to Santeetlah Creek. Rhododendrons are abundant too.

Nearby, is the Joyce Kilmer Memorial Forest. Some of the Yellow Poplars are over 400 years old, 20 feet in circumference and 100 feet tall. To enjoy this virgin splendor, there are two easy loop trails - one is 1.25 miles and the other is 0.75 miles.

Parking aprons are gravel and dirt. Sites 12 and 13 are not
accessible for RVs. Interior campground roads are narrow and
rough.

Rainbow Trout, Brook Trout and Brown Trout. Rainbow Trout is

Directions:

 

From Robbinsville, NC, take U.S. Rt. 129 north 7.9 miles
campground sign (Joyce Kilmer Rd. - State Rt. 1147). Turn left
onto Joyce Kilmer Rd. and go 0.5 miles to a "T" intersection.
Turn right at intersection (over bridge), staying on Joyce
Kilmer Rd., and go 5.5 miles to campground.
