Hanging Dog campground

 

There are 4 loops in the campground. The Hanging Dog Creek and Hiwassee Lake are primary features of the campground. Hanging Dog Creek is location of the last battle of the Civil War. This campground is close to the Tellico ORV area.

Open Seasonal: Yes, Open with services April 1 through October 30.
Open All Year: Yes, One primitive loop open all year.

Not required but to be sure you'll have a space reservations should be made about 3 weeks in advance.

There is a 14-day stay limit from Memorial Day through Labor Day. Otherwise, maximum stay permitted is 30 days

In Murphy, NC, at the intersection of US 19/129/74/64, take US 64 (Tennessee Rd.) west for 5 miles to Hanging Dog Recreation Area sign. Turn left at sign and go 1 mile to campground.
